![]() ![]() Any app which puts sustained CPU loads will cause the issue. I would not recommend this tablet to anyone who even thinks about using video conferencing, and the only thing magic about video conferencing is sustained CPU loads. Yes, an aggressive ad blocker and sleeping tabs helps this quite a bit. It would also start throttling when web pages with hidden auto play video would run. Plug in the charger and add some additional heat and the Surface Pro 7+ just slows to an unusable crawl. The CPU loads of running Zoom or Teams or Google Meet (Meet is the worst) pretty rapidly cause thermal throttling, especially in a warm room. For most of us, video conferencing is a requirement for at least part of the day. I know this is an older thread, but I tried the SP87+ fanless i5 and just couldn’t. I know we fanless nerds are a minority but for a little cost they could have us in their pocket. It was already bad that they didn't advertise it properly. If Microsoft killed the fanless option it's gonna be terrible. Does anyone have a current update about which models may be fanless, if any at all? I have seen a few other posts with this question, but they are all old. I think when I bought the 7 a couple of years ago, I found about the lack of fan here in Reddit, or a similar place. I've heard this song many times before from different manufacturers and it's never inaudible for me once I am in my silent living room, so I'm very reluctant to try. ![]() I called Microsoft and they claimed all have a fan now (but I know from experience some sales reps say this as a blanket answer), and that Laptop 4 "hs a fan but it's a new tech that is almost inaudible". My second fanless PC is a very slow and old Asus and I want to buy a Surface replacement, but the Microsoft website doesn't say which ones have no fan, if any at all. I have a Surface Pro 7 i5 and I am very happy with it because it's fanless without being terribly underpowered. ![]()
